📆 Crypto DCA Calculator
Dollar-cost averaging means buying for the same amount every month, whatever the price. Pick a coin, an amount and a start month to see what that habit would be worth now.
Prices: monthly closing prices from Binance spot market data (USDT pairs), August 2017 to September 2026, downloaded 2026-10-17. Each purchase is made at that month's closing price. Past returns say nothing about future returns.
What DCA does and does not do
Buying the same dollar amount every month means you automatically buy more coins when the price is low and fewer when it is high. Your average price per coin ends up below the simple average of the prices you paid, which is why the "average buy price" figure is often lower than you would guess.
DCA does not make a falling asset profitable. If the price today is below your average buy price, you are at a loss, however disciplined the habit was. The comparison with buying everything in the first month shows the trade-off: in a market that mostly rose, the lump sum wins; in one that fell first, DCA wins.
Limits
One price per month (the close) is a simplification: real purchases happen on a specific day, and the spread on many apps adds a cost that is not listed as a fee. Taxes are not included. Data starts in August 2017 for BTC and ETH and August 2020 for SOL, when Binance's monthly series begins.
