🧩 Schema Markup Validator

Paste JSON-LD, a single <script> tag or a whole page's HTML. Every block is checked against Google's rich result requirements for the common types, and every problem is explained in plain English.

To check a live page: open it, press Ctrl+U (View source), select all, copy, paste here. The example has two mistakes on purpose.

What the three levels mean

  • Blocks rich results - invalid JSON, a missing required property, or a value Google cannot read (like a date written 24/10/2026). The page still works, but this markup will not earn an enhanced listing.
  • Recommended - Google can use the markup without it, but documents it as recommended. Adding it gives Google more to work with.
  • Note - something worth knowing, such as a type Google no longer rewards.

Which rules are checked

Required and recommended properties follow Google's rich result documentation for Article, NewsArticle, BlogPosting, VideoObject, SoftwareApplication, Product, FAQPage, BreadcrumbList, Recipe, Event, LocalBusiness, JobPosting, Organization and WebSite, last checked in October 2026. On top of that, every node is checked for a @type, dates in ISO 8601 format, durations like PT4M35S, and full URLs in url, logo, image and video fields.

Valid is not the same as eligible

A common surprise: SoftwareApplication markup for a free web tool is perfectly valid schema.org, yet Google requires a rating or a review before it shows the rich result. Never add ratings that did not come from real users - Google treats invented reviews as spam. Likewise, FAQ rich results are now shown only for well-known government and health sites, and HowTo rich results were retired in 2023.

Limits

This is a fast first check, not Google's verdict. Google's own Rich Results Test is the final word on eligibility, and it can also see markup that JavaScript adds after the page loads, which a pasted source file does not contain. Microdata and RDFa are not checked - only JSON-LD, the format Google recommends.
