🗺️ XML Sitemap Generator
Paste your page URLs, one per line, and get a sitemap.xml that search engines accept. Duplicates and invalid lines are removed and reported, special characters are escaped, and large lists are split by the 50,000-URL limit automatically.
What goes in a good sitemap
A sitemap is a list of the pages you want search engines to find. Only list the canonical version of each page - the URL that should appear in results - and only pages that return a normal 200 response. Redirects, pages blocked in robots.txt, pages with noindex and duplicate URLs with tracking parameters should stay out. A sitemap does not force indexing; it helps crawlers discover pages and notice changes.
Why there is no priority or changefreq
Google has said it ignores the <priority> and <changefreq> tags, so this generator leaves them out. <lastmod> is used - but only when it is consistently accurate. Stamping today's date on every page every time you regenerate teaches search engines to ignore the field, which is why the default leaves it out.
Limits and next steps
One sitemap file may hold at most 50,000 URLs and 50 MB uncompressed. Longer lists are split into several files plus a sitemap index that points to them; upload them all to the site root and name the files as shown. Then add a Sitemap: line to your robots.txt and submit the sitemap in Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools. This tool does not crawl your site - it builds the file from the list you give it.
